Donburi Maruya Menus

In March 2021, I received a menu design project from Donburi Maruya Singapore through J Passport during my full-time employment. The client requested a grand menu for printing on one page and a showcase menu for TV display.

They have three main menu categories (Donburi, Curry, Teishoku), and my challenge was to fit all menu items and images onto one page. I highlighted the recommended, signature, and popular items to ensure that customers wouldn't be too confused about which menu to focus on during their first visit.

For the TV screen, I showcased the top three items from each category and created them in GIF format, as shown below.

In August 2021, Maruya opened a new branch outlet in Changi and contacted us to create another menu designs.
The new outlet concept is "express", which is smaller, faster and more inexpensive compared to Lorong Chuan (1st) outlet. They requested menu printings for 2 kinds: (1) On-hand menu, smaller and placed inside near cashier; and (2) Menu panel, bigger so more people can see.

Although the menu list in this outlet is lesser, it has 2 kinds of price which can take additional space for the layout. We added the numbering on the menu so it helps customer to distinguish which menu displayed on the image, as we can't fit all menu images on 1 page.

In October 2021, I received another menu panel creation for Donburi Maruya. Client wanted to add Sign Board and Panel on one of their outlet. This time they requested to show images on each menu. A bit different from previous menu above, here we zoomed in the food images to fit in a rectangle, so the food detail can be enhanced and to save up space.
For Menu Panel on the side of the counter, client wanted to see the menu in both dark and light version, so I provided mockups of how each version would appear. In the end, the client chose the dark version.
